Negotiated Skills Development

I will be develop skills that will be very important to my final project. Visual effects, video edition and 3D modules, will be essential to achieve my project, so this will be the skills that i want to develop.
Im going to look how visual effects are created and how they are apply in specific content, like explosions, debris, fire, smoke and fire guns, all this visual are very important to my final project, a short film about war, and to achieve this skills i had to make a lot of research about these themes, i search on books, tutorials, in the professional industry to see how professionals work and create their visual effects and witch  kind of software they use and why. After all this research that is not finished yet, i did some tests to see how it work, and i already did some in previous projects for university, i really liked the final result and got more knowledge of the of visual effects. Video edition will be the last part of my project, and possible the  most important part of the project, because its important in any film or short film to have an excellent edition, so that we can pass the right message to the people, choosing the best scenes and putting the right transitions is really important to the final product as well the synchronisation of the audio with video, thats not very easy to do, but with knowledge and the correct software its possible to put the audio as well the sound effects in the correct position, it will make a the video much more realistic and thats one of my aims for this project. 3D elements will be a major skill that i have to achieve, i am not a 3D person, i prefer video so i m doing this project all by myself and i will have to do everything, but i thing that will not be a problem, but about 3D i will have to create modules, military models and animated and putting them into real footage with the help of matchmover a software that track 3D objects, other big thing will be the use of particles system to create the debris for an explosion, pf sources, drag, force and gravity will be essential for the debris, because is the only way that i can create a specific debris for an explosion, i will be using 3ds max to create all of this, is the only 3D software that i know how to use and used before, but still i have to make a lot of research on this 3D subjects to achieve the best final result.
As said before i will be doing a short film about war, so for this module i will be doing a trailer that will announce the short film, and in this trailer will have different scenes all of them with visual effects and 3D elements, so we can have a generally view about the story and the scenes that will appear in the short film, i m searching a lot of trailers related with war and others related with action movies, so that i have a lot of visual research and get great ideas for my trailer and to see how trailers are made witch scenes are best to use on a trailer, because often we see trailers that we can already now the story and the meaning of the film, and that is a message that i don t want to pass with my trailer.
After my research i start to build the trailer, i had some issues related with fumefx, this because i don t have memory enough to simulate in high definition, so the explosions didn't look real as i wanted, besides that the rest of the animation went really well, the 3D elements and the real footage worked really nice together, and the smoke and the fire from the airplanes were well constructed, with trapcode particular i manage to simulate real smoke and fire, for the tanks and airplanes, i build some shockwaves so that the scenes will look muck more realistic, because that was my aim for this product look the most realistic possible, and to develop and learn new techniques, such as simulating explosions and adding elements to that explosion to look better. In the end the final result was really good, but i would change the voices in the trailer, its a deep voice to much deep and sometimes we don t understand what he says, but besides that the rest is really good and i really enjoy it to do this project where i learn new techniques in compositing as i said before, and developed other techniques to a professional way. This is the link to watch the trailer, enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt5ORXChOAo
